How To Truly Forgive Someone In 3 Steps

Want to forgive someone who has hurt you in the past? Here’s how to truly forgive someone in 3 steps.

We often think that forgiveness is something we do what we see guilt in others, but true forgiveness involves seeing past the guilt in others and remembering the innocence that lies beyond.

The pain we feel when we withhold forgiveness does not stem from our past experiences.

Instead, it is a manifestation of our continued belief in separation which goes against the universal truth of perfect oneness.

True healing comes when we remember that we are all extensions of the love of the Universe.

The only thing that is real is the love we gave and the love we received. Everything else is an illusion.

Use these 3 steps below to truly forgive someone.

1. Be Willing To See Them Differently

The first step to truly forgive someone is to be willing to see them differently.

The reason why we find it hard to forgive is that we hold on to the past and refuse to let it go.

In other words, we are unwilling to see the situation differently.

True forgiveness only comes when we become willing to change our perception of what happened.

We may not be able to change our past experiences. But we can always change the experience of our experiences.

The Universe (or God, Source, Angels, Spirit Guides) is always waiting on standby to help you reorganize your thoughts from fear back to love.

We don’t need to figure how we can forgive them, we just need to be willing to forgive them.

The moment you surrender your grievance and become willing to see with spiritual sight, the Universe will swoop in and show you exactly what you need to do.

2. Pray For A Shift In Perception

The second step to truly forgive someone is to pray for a shift in perception.

We may find it hard to forgive someone but guess what? We don’t have to do it ourselves.

All we have to do is invite the God of our own understanding to transform our perception of what happened.

Use this prayer to welcome guidance from the Universe, “Universe, I am willing to see this person differently. I release all judgment and I choose to see through the lens of love instead.”

This shift in perception from separation back to oneness is a miracle according to the metaphysical text A Course In Miracles.

Miracles have the power to undo all consequences of lovelessness and restore your inner peace—if you allow them to.

According to the Law of Cause and Effect, your thoughts create your experiences.

This means when you have a miracle on the thought level, you must experience a miracle on the physical level.

3. Remember Only Love Is Real

The final step to truly forgive someone is to remember that only love is real.

The truth is we are all spiritual beings that are equal extensions of the love of the Universe.

This is why we feel terrible when we judge others because it goes directly against the truth of our oneness.

When we refuse to forgive others, we are the ones who suffer because we reinforce our belief in separation.

We withhold love from those who hurt us because we perceive them as separate from us.

But all this does is perpetuate the cycle of lovelessness that was inflicted upon us.

The Course tells us that what we withhold from others shall be withheld from us.

So the only way to break out of this cycle is to return to love and remember that only love is real.

We must see through the guilt in others and see the innocence that lies beyond.

For in seeing the innocence that lies in others, we remember our own.

This recognition of oneness is what brings true healing and inner peace to our hearts.
